The organisation has changed its name and objectives in light
of the increasing demands from other Asian communities; a name which embraces
these other communities will assist us in meeting their needs
The Afghanistan and Central Asian Association
,
is the first organisation in Britain to build strong and effective relations with Asian
people. We decided to change the name of our organisation to bring other
people together to make decisions, learn from each other and share their experiences.
We believe that every person is born free and in law everyone is equal.
Everybody has knowledge and a conscience which leads them to respect other
people’s view, culture and beliefs. We are delighted with the establishment of
the new project, so that people of Afghanistan and Asian can work together and
share mutual understanding.
The Afghanistan and Asian Community Organisation
will support and empower social,
cultural, historical and educational needs among the Asian community at large. The
“Afghan Community Organisation of London” made a massive contribution but needs to update the
organisation and to integrate more people and communities from the
multi-cultural society of Great Britain.
The encouragement, support and
feedback of the people and positive reaction from the community make us
more active and determined to widen the help we offer to our participants, and we feel
the new name of the organisation reflects this. The new name and objectives
will benefit everyone in our community to have access to education, employment,
health and business.
The Afghanistan and
Central Asian Association has a wider remit in order to meet the needs of different
communities and will:

people here and abroad.

business skills and to improve employment opportunities

to victims of human rights abuses.
Promoting English language
classes.
Supporting youth by providing supplementary education
opportunities.

Motivating
and raising awareness among the people by involving the community in running and
managing the organisation.
Bringing people and groups together from diverse
faiths, in particular Muslims and people with no faith, in our wider work. We
will:
1. Educate and empower all our participants, particularly women and
children, to learn more about where they come from using activities based on
their heritage nations, in order to make children proud and better informed
about their backgrounds.
2. Raise awareness of international
development by adapting existing resources and materials to inform, engage and
train participants - particularly our women’s classes – enabling them to share
their knowledge more widely.
3. Gain and use new techniques and skills to
train the people with whom we work so that they are proud of their heritage
nations and its link to the UK.
4. Teach modern presentation and
communication skills to empower and build the skills of our
participants.
