Eid address by Dr Nooralhaq Nasimi

Dr Nooralhaq Nasimi has given a speech to the Afghans and  Central Asians in the local community a EID MUBARUK.

On 20th December we hosted and Eid celebration at Goldsmith’s College; there were performances of poetry reading by children from our supplementary schools and music played on traditional Afghanistan rubab andtamboor by Professor John Bailey( Headof Afghanistan Music Unit) accompanied by Veronica Doubleday singing folksongs in Farsi.

The evening was introduced by Roger Panton of Objective Internet and Nader Zerik performed classical Afghan music and there were a number of interesting speeches from people such as Dr Nasimi.

The event was attended by family groups and around 200 people enjoyed splendid food and entertainment.

EID CELEBRATIONS AT GOLDSMITH

John and Veronica gave a superb performance of traditional songs and instrumenrs from Afghanistan.         

 

 

 

 

 

Afghansitan and Asian Commuinity Organisation   based in New Cross held  an evening of music, presentations and cultural events including poetry readings by our Supplementary School Students in celebration of the Eid festival.

It was a great evening and we are lucky to have Professor John Bailey, Head of The Afghanistan Music Unit atGoldsmith College who played authentic Afghanistan Dutur and Rubub instruments and veronica Doubleday who sang traditional songs from Afghanistan brilliantly.
